The Mutual Help Development Department is considered the traditional (most recognizable) housing service offered through the Choctaw Nation Housing Authority. They have been responsible for the construction of over three thousand (3000) mutual help houses since the inception of the Choctaw Nation Housing Authority.
Qualifications/Requirements for Assistance

Must have a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)

Must have a Tribal Membership (preference given to Choctaw Tribal Members)

Social Security verification for each member of the family living in the home.

Meet income guidelines for Low to Very-Low income households (verification by employer wage reports, income tax return, etc.)

Must be able to Pass a Criminal History background check (drug or violent crime related)

Must have Suitable Land (as Outlined in application) for building which is free and clear of debts.

Must be willing to transfer land Title (selected for home) into the name of Housing Authority of the Choctaw Nation, if land is found suitable for construction.
